About

Expo 2025 is a testing ground for the society of the future. Under the motto "Designing Future Society for Our Lives," the countries of the world will meet at Expo Osaka from April 13 to October 13, 2025.

The goal is to discuss how society can achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. As a "People's Living Lab"- a test laboratory for the society of the future - the Expo will be a testing ground for new systems and technologies. It aims to stimulate innovation and demonstrate ways to implement them toward the sustainable society of tomorrow.

The German Pavilion itself is a showcase for circular and sustainable construction. Circular materials are used wherever possible, the reuse of all components are considered from the outset, and irreversible material combinations are avoided.

Highlight

World Expo 2025 is located in Osaka. Germany is the advocate for sustainability and therefore the main concept for German pavillion was circular building and economy. This means all building materials used had to be either reusable or recyclable, same for the exhibiton materials.

The project included a broad range of bespoke solutions, such as:

  • Over 10 hands-on stations with complex mechanical and electrical interactions
  • Over 16 outdoor stations, among them interactives, that had to withstand heavy rain and Taifuns of Japan
  • Special furniture elements for various exhibitions areas and use cases

Insights

German Pavilion in World Expo Osaka receives approximately 2.5 M visitors over the period of 6 months, requiring furniture of high durability, suitable for intensive public use. Also the weather conditions outside play a big role for the durability of the stands.
